Will etching damage my chrome?
Nope. The sandblasted etching is very superficial. Etching won’t rust or affect the performance of your part.
Does the etched image look different in different light?
Yeah. In bright sunlight, it looks shiny and, to be honest: fucking awesome. It looks its "whitest" at night when light is reflected off of the surface. No matter the light, it’s BAD ASS.
How the hell am I supposed to decide what to put on my ride?
The key to deciding on a design theme is to think of this as a tattoo. What are you into, or what has meaning for you? What persona do you want your ride to convey?
Where can I find ideas for designs?
First, check out the portfolio. That way, you have an idea of what makes for killer etching. We’re big fans of Google image searches, too. If you’re into tats, this is a good site to find free flash designs. We can "translate" your favorite designs into a custom piece that can be etched onto your ride. You can e-mail us web links or print out and mail the designs with your order.
Can you etch a logo on my chrome and glass?
This is art, my friend. If you are looking for a 100%-precise replica of an intricate design, we might not be for you. (But then again, we might. It depends on the design and the size of the part.) The point is this: If you are looking for flat, computer-precision images (as in, not art) you're barkin' up the wrong tree.
When it comes to the design, how much "direction" do you really need?
We will take the size, shape and position of the part in mind when etching your part and do our best to make your idea "work," so send us notes, pictures or sketches if you have a very particular idea in mind. Of course, "I want flames" is enough direction for us, too. We’re artists, and we’ve been doing this for a long time. Our favorite jobs are ones where clients have a general idea as to what they want (like "a dragon") and who know they can be confident to let us take it from there (And, usually – that’s when things turn out the best.)
Can you etch "fake" chrome?
Yep. Whatever you call it – fake, faux, plastic – we can etch it. The result looks cool, but the finish is less glittering and shiny than etched chrome. Check out the portfolio shots of the Yamaha mirrors for a good example.
What about windshields and mirrors?
We can beautifully etch Plexiglas, acrylic and glass. Just use tape or a grease pencil to indicate what space needs to remain "clear" to avoid impeding your vision.
How much does this BAD ASS etching cost?
According to my girlfriend, not enough. Seriously, though: The cost depends on the size and complexity of the design. Check out the prices link for info. Like tattoos, etching is an affordable (and addictive) luxury.
How do I get my part or car to you?
Check out our orders link for the run down. If you want your car etched, you’d better live in the Southern California area. (Unless you’re willing to mail it.)
How do you do it?
All our etching is custom sandblasted by hand. It took us over a decade to perfect the process, so that’s all we’re gonna say.
